Floral and almost wine-like on the nose, with elderflower, Meyer lemon, and white grape leading alongside a soft juniper backing. The palate is creamy and rounded, with candied citrus peel, chamomile, and a long, delicate finish that skews more aperitivo than London Dry.
Matchbook Distilling operates out of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and approaches gin from a culinary perspective. Founder Aaron Knoll is a gin historian and author whose research influences the botanical sourcing and layering process. The flagship gin is made with a neutral grape base and a range of European and American botanicals distilled in a custom copper pot still. The grape base gives it a softer, more vinous texture that distinguishes it in cocktails.
