Ichiro's Malt MWR Mizunara Wood Reserve Saitama, Japan

Ichiro's Malt MWR (Mizunara Wood Reserve) is one of three iconic blended malt whiskies coming from the Chichibu Distillery. Chichibu single malt is blended with a variety of other world malts to add depth and richness. The aging takes place mostly in ex-bourbon and sherry butts, but unlike other blends from Chichibu, the MWR sees finishing in a bespoke mizunara tank. For the uninitiated, mizunara is Japanese Water Oak and while prized for its ethereal flavor imparted after aging for many years, it is incredibly difficult to work with and is increasingly difficult to get at auction. This blended malt opens the doorway to mizunara aged spirits and stands as testament to the fact that there is nothing else quite like them.
