Day Wines is a producer of boutique, artisanal bottlings made from fruit sourced exclusively from a small group of Oregon growers.  The Johan Pinot Noir always displays a lovely, deep red berry core, with hints of marionberry, black tea, tobacco leaf and graphite. The tannins and acids in this wine are typically strident in their youth, indicating a long and fulfilling life in the cellar. Cranberry and cherry, vanilla coke, forest floor, clove, umami, and an unexpected burst of citrus on the finish. There is serious depth and generous fruit, but it has the acidity and earth that bring it all into balance with precision and purity.
