Bright ruby, translucent and light in the glass. Cherry, almond, and violet on the nose, with a freshness that reads almost Alpine. On the palate light-bodied with soft tannins, bright red fruit, and a clean, harmonious finish with a subtle bitter almond note at the close.
Schiava (also known as Vernatsch in German) is the indigenous red grape of Alto Adige, planted here in the Galea vineyard on porphyry gravel soils at the foot of the Dolomites, where some vines exceed a hundred years of age.
