Deep ruby-purple. The nose leads with red plum, dried black cherry, and fynbos — the wild scrubby herb note that shows up in Swartland reds and nowhere else.
51% Cinsault, 26% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah, and 8% Touriga Nacional — four varieties that each contribute something distinct. Cinsault supplies the lightness and red fruit; Mourvèdre adds grip and dark earth; Syrah brings the peppery aromatic spine; Touriga Nacional — more commonly found in Port production — gives the wine a floral lift that holds the whole thing together.
