Deep ruby-purple. Coffee, cocoa, and dried cherry on the nose, with a savory thread of dried herbs underneath. On the palate, morello cherry and ripe red fruit, earthy mid-palate, and licorice through the finish with firm, well-integrated tannins. Viticcio is rooted in Greve in Chianti, where the Biba family has been making wine since 1964. The Bolgheri vineyards, planted on south and southwest-facing coastal slopes just above sea level, were added in 2004. Sixty percent Cabernet Sauvignon, thirty percent Merlot, ten percent Cabernet Franc. Aged twelve months in French oak barriques. Certified organic across all 120 estate hectares since 2013. Bolgheri DOC, Maremma, Tuscany. A Chianti Classico estate that expanded into Bolgheri, certified organic across all 120 hectares, making a Bordeaux blend in one of Italy's most storied coastal appellations.
