This is the own label of Alex Moreau - who has been running the legendary Domaine Bernard Moreau. If you've had Bernard Moreau, you essentially know what to expect: some of the best wines in Chassagne-Montrachet. While best known for his richly textured whites, Alex's floral, elegant reds are very much worth exploring as well. This old-vine bottling from Chassagne is an ideal place to start.
100% Pinot Noir; vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, just below Pierres; vines planted 1960 – 1965; hand harvested; fermented in 10 – 25% new French oak barrels using only indgenous yeast, about 25% whole cluster; aged 18 months in barrel; bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Winemaker notes: Peonies, rose petals, red berries and spice aromas. Medium-bodied, perfumed and satiny with lively acidity and a saline finish.
