This wine is a single vineyard bottling from the Morei vineyard. Morei means ‘moro’ or ‘dark’ in the Trentino dialect and the grapes cultivated in this vineyard truly reflect this. Destemmed whole berries are put in clay amphorae for spontaneous fermentation and aging for eight months. S02 is usually added only at bottling, between 20-35mg/l. In warm vintages with low PH, it may be added after malolactic fermentation.
This is so lively, blooming with such purity of red and blue fruit, with hints of fresh violets, savory herbs, white pepper and savory, citrus undertones. Medium- to full-bodied, juicy and vibrant with crunchy, very fine tannins and a structured, chalky backbone to it. Crushed stones. So much life and energy here with stunning acidity and a lingering, savory finish.
The Teroldego grape is related to Syrah and the similarities are noticeable, especially in the body. This wine can evolve in the bottle or be enjoyed young when the fruit aspect is more pronounced.
