Crisp raspberry and Tayberry scents on the nose, quite compact at first, slowly unfurling with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, pretty with fine structure, tapering just a little towards the end but without compromising its elegance.
Domaine de la Grand’Cour is one of the rock star producers to make its way into the American market. Winemaker Jean-Louis Dutraive is a 5th generation vigneron focusing on small parcels of Gamay grown with integrity and produced with minimal intervention. Finished wines are unrefined and unfiltered before bottling. At nearly 60 years old, Jean-Louis Dutraive has long held the respect of local farmers from his region but has recently turned into a rather dark horse favorite among global wine geeks.
