With all of the focus on the red wines of Priorat, it is the whites wines that can be the most surprising and exotic. Costers Priorat blanc dazzles with an exquisite juxtaposition between exotic fruit and fresh slate minerality. Blanc de Pissarres is derived from “pizarra,” which is “slate” in Spanish. It brings together the expression of the local varieties: mineral depth of Macabeo, the citrus energy and Mediterranean character of Garnacha Blanca, and the warmth of Pedro ximénez. The three varieties are handpicked from co-planted parcels in high-elevation sites in the two old vineyards and vinified in the Catalan brisat style, with a three day skin maceration. This style lends incredible texture, structure, and complexity to the wine. Blanc de Pissarres is one of the most exciting and significant white wines produced in the Priorat region.
