2017 Combel La Serre France Southwest 100% Malbec (aka Auxerrois in local parlance). The certified-organic vines average 40 years old and are planted on red and yellow clay over limestone bedrock. The hand-harvested fruit is destemmed, pressed and fermented with native yeasts with a one-week maceration. The wine is aged in cement tanks for a year. A fruit forward example of Cahors, with gourmet notes of black cherry. The wine is full, rich, but free of any tannic harshness.
