Chateau Leroy Beauval has been producing wines in the commune of Saint-Sulpice-et-Cameyrac on the western coast of the Bordeaux appellation since the 1700s. However, the estate really started to garner attention after 2012 when new cellars were built and the property gained notoriety for juicy, fresh wines under the direction of famed viticulturalist Stephane Derenencourt. As Leroy-Beauval transitions to organic viticulture, their wines have only become more deliciously complex and always offer a value.
This bottling is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, but you could have fooled us - the flavor is all big Bordeaux! Old vines have built some depth into this bottling, with velvety blackberry and plum notes, plush black cherry, toasted aniseed, and mocha from a touch of new French Oak.
